Why 14KT?

Why 14KT?

I get asked a lot about the gold we use. We do most of our work in 14KT yellow gold. Why? Plain and simple, it is the color I am most drawn to. I always admired my grandmother's jewelry and it was mostly 14KT gold, so it feels familiar and I love the warm color of it, without it being too yellow. It has a slightly softer, antique gold color that I feels like me. I also think it pairs nicely with my platinum engagement ring and gives me the feeling of a modern heirloom.

There are many shades of gold within the KT measurement. Some are mixed with other alloys and can create a slightly more yellow or red color even within the spectrum of 14KT yellow gold. After working with antique jewelry, I am drawn to a more antique color. An added bonus, 14KT yellow gold has a durability that higher KT metals don't have which means its life is long and it feels durable and ready to stand the test of time. Being able to select the gold color that I think best suits my designs and casting in house has allowed me to be able to select an even more specific shade that's perfect fit for JP pieces.

All of this said, we love working with any fine metals and are actually working on some really cool new mixed metal GILD pieces that I am excited to launch soon!
