HOLIDAY BTS

As the holiday season quickly approaches, I’ll admit I haven’t done much decorating (but I am in love with our cozy tree set up- pictured below). What I do like to do every holiday season is to come up with a plan for giving back. The busyness of the season can easily let this slip by, so I make it a priority to plan ahead. This year, we connected with an incredible local organization supporting children battling cancer at MUSC. They provide holiday gifts for these children, giving families a chance to feel the joy of the season amidst challenging circumstances. You can make a donation and they will shop for the child for you, but we opted to do the gift selection and wrapping, as I think it is important for our very fortunate children to realize how lucky we are for all that we have, including our health.

We selected a boy and girl recipient, so that each of our children could focus on a child and select gifts based on their wishlists. We hope that this very small gesture brightens up the holidays of the children and their families. Having spent a holiday in the ICU, I understand how burdensome this can be for a family. Acts of kindness, no matter how small, can make a world of difference during tough times.

Wishing you a holiday season filled with love, light, and giving.
