JP Women Who Inspire: Lauren Lail

Lauren has such a discerning eye. She always catches the most perfect looks in her personal style and in styling for clients. Everything she does is beautiful and creative and her ability to do it all with ease is something that inspires me. Lauren is an incredible mother and wife and friend. I am so lucky to have her in my life.

xx Jane

We asked Lauren a few questions so that you can get to know her, and we are so excited to share a little bit about a woman who inspires us:

Tell me a little about what you do? My main job right now is being a Mom! Before Covid hit, I was designing & selling my children's clothing brand, Library Littles. During that time my New York factory shut down, tariffs were raised on imports from Canada where my fabric was being sourced and the world was uneasy. When everyone came out of the fog, I realized how nice it was being with my children day to day without that added stress of owning my own business. I still stay creative by wardrobe styling for brands like Jane Pope Jewelry and I also do personal shopping for clients whether it be for an upcoming trip or adding staples to their current wardrobe or during a season change.

What inspires you? The women in my life. I have friends that are in jewelry, clothing and interior designers, artists, moms, photographers, teachers, public relations managers, fundraisers, and more. They all inspire me!

What is one great piece of advice you received? To always stay true to yourself.

What accomplishment are you most proud of? Personally, my children. They are the loves of my life. Professionally, that I was selling Library Littles to 15 children's retail stores over the United States before I closed my business. It was wonderfully validating to see that other's loved what I had created as much as I did.

What is one challenge you've experienced that has led to growth? One challenge in my career was not having attended a formal fashion institute or never working for a magazine as a style editor in a big city. As I began craving a more creative, artist path, I realized I'd have to teach myself. I immersed myself in learning - researching fabric mills, pattern makers, and factories on the design side. And on the styling side, finding out the proper way to assemble a wardrobe for a photoshoot and how to build trust with clients who rely on me to style their photoshoots and present their brands in the best light. It's taught me a lot about myself and my interests.

Is there anything you'd like to share about your journey to where you are now? That it's ok to change gears. There's never a wrong or right time to start something new or pause what you're doing.

How do you make time to recharge? I workout, walk with my hubby and dog in Hampton Park, go to dinner with my favorite girls, watch my kids play sports & I love to travel!

Where is your happy place? Home or Wadmalaw with David, Evie & Hugh. Truly nothing better!

Do you have anything fun on the horizon? You'll just have to wait & see!!!
