The Bahamas Update

  |  Uncategorized

The trip to the Bahamas was just perfection. I have since been soaking up every memory with a gigantic smile on my face.  In January, 27 of my dearest friends from near and far joined Tyler and me in the Bahamas to celebrate my 40th birthday and 5 years since my brain tumor debacle.

We went to Harbour Island for a friend’s wedding a couple of years ago, and the minute we got there, I knew it was the spot where I could imagine myself celebrating these milestones.  My sweet hubby started planning everything a year ago because we knew it would be a trip that would take some planning.  We had to get a headcount first, so he sent an email inviting people to join us. I knew the group was big and assumed it was very likely many wouldn’t be able to make the trip.  When we heard back from everyone that they were in (except one friend fearing Zika), we were shocked and elated.

We went back last Easter and took the kiddos back for a quick trip with my dear friend Marysia and her family.  It was so fun to be there and imagine it with all of my people.  But, to actually be there with this amazing group of people was a dream come true.

Six couples stayed at THE OTHER SIDE, which is the Ocean View Club’s new spot.  It was just incredible.  Such a beautiful, pristine spot with amazing food prepared to order, delicious cocktails, and lots of games to play (which was a hit with this competitive bunch).  Tyler planned the big dinner with the OVC which was delicious, and beautiful and so much fun.  There were some toasts and some happy tears and a ton of laughter.  It was exactly what I envisioned it.  Nice job, hubby.

The others stayed at the Ocean View Club on Harbour Island.  It was the perfect balance to have The Other Side to ourselves, but to also get over the Harbour Island for a little more island action.  We had lunches at Sip Sip, dinners and the Dunmore and The Landing and hung beach side in the pink sand.

The weekend was spent laughing, riding golf carts, beaching, playing games, delicious cocktails and soaking up the beauty of lifelong friendships.  These girls and guys are the best and I am crazy thankful to have them in my life.
