Cali Recap + Halloween Fun with Marysia Swim

  |  Summer,Travel,Uncategorized

The mommy/daughter girls trip to cali was a huge success.  My girl and I had a blast visiting friends and being in the California sunshine.  Our first stop upon arrival was the Marysia Swim offices.  Popie got to be the fit model for the next Bumby collection, which was beyond precious.  She was thrilled to try on her first bikini and was quite disappointed that they were not all hers to have.  We spent 2 nights in LA with Marysia and her 2 daughters, and even got to partake in their BUMBY Halloween party.  It was equipped with rhinestones and glitter to decorate pumpkins, incredible face painting by makeup artist Sarah, and make your own fingernail polish station with Jennifer both of Mad Rouge Beauty.  All of the fun was followed by a deliciously spooky supper of clams, octopus, and shrimp over squid ink pasta, homemade my Marysia’s hubby Nathaniel.  It was a precious group of littles in the Bumby Collection which will be available on their website soon (meanwhile grab this year’s suits for 50% off!).  How incredible are the pics from Sophie of Love bucket Photo?  For more from the party, check out Marysia’s blog.

Friday we headed to Santa Barbara to visit my friend Laura and her two girls, Millie and Caper.  Laura and I enjoyed two nights out for some amazing food, drink and laughs.  The first night we went to El Encanto for sunset champagne and then to The Stonehouse at  San Ysidro Ranch for an incredible dinner under the trees.  Saturday we spent the most glorious day on the beach!  The girls had a blast in the surf, and Pope got to wear her first wet suit.   We went to The Lark for supper on Saturday night.  Another cool spot with delicious food.  Sunday we went to Santa Ynes to wine country. It was crazy dry and hot, but great to taste a few crisp white wines at Lincourt Vineyards and hear a female pair singing.  We had our final meal, and arguably the best, at Industrial Eats.  I loved the rustic/industrial feel and the daily menu was written on kraft paper on the wall.  It was a meat heavy spot, but the salad we had and the curried cauliflower dish we had were on point.

We were sad to leave the beauty, fresh and healthy lifestyle, and dear friends in California.  A return trip is a must.  xo JPC
