I have felt so reminiscent lately with the recent shoot starring my daughter and getting these photos of Three Generations of JP with my mom and daughter.  They are so very special to me and I am so grateful to have these images with these two beauties. In the same vein, I have been thinking a lot about how certain things, whether material or not, give significance to my life. Noticing what things bring me joy and enhance my life, and looking to fill my life with more of that and really soaking in how they make me feel.  

I feel the same way about jewelry. It is something that evokes connection and meaning in a unique way. Whether it reminds you of someone, keeps your loved ones with you, or makes you smile, jewelry can be very powerful. I love looking down at my hands and seeing my JP NAME RINGS, knowing that I always have my babies with me. Seeing my antique engagement ring and thinking of 15 years of marriage. Layering gold bands and it reminding me of my grandmother's cool gold rings. I love the layers of more simple with more intricate styles building my own story, layer by layer. 

Jewelry can be an emotional purchase, one filled with love, excitement, tears, and even at times in loss. Building a modern heirloom collection involves starting with your favorite pieces, adding layers of varying textures and shapes, mixing metals when it feels right. Incorporate meaningful pieces for emotional resonance, and experiment with different styles and silhouettes to create a collection that reflects your personal style and can be cherished for generations.

I have always admired the stylish women in my life. My mom is the most unintentionally stylish person I know. She loves and wears pieces that she buys and for this reason I have used many of her pieces of jewelry and wardrobe as inspiration. One of my favorite pieces is an incredibly beautiful sapphire and diamond ring that my dad designed for her for their 15th anniversary. This ring contains 3 very dark oval sapphires (my favorite kind) lined with diamonds on the top and bottom. While its design was from a doodle my dad made on a napkin in NYC's diamond district, it has become a coveted piece of my mom's by all of the ladies in our family. Last November, my parents celebrated celebrated their 50th anniversary.  

Since there is only one of these rings, I thought it could be cool if I re-designed it with some tweaks to give to my nieces and daughter so that each can have a little bit of mimi with them in this special piece. While my oldest niece will get the original, each of the other Pope family girls will have a ring inspired by our beloved Mimi.

Celebrating our 15 years of JP Jewelry has me reminiscing about all the love and continued support we receive from our amazing clients. As a thank you for trusting us, JP Jewelry is now offering FREE repairs on JP Jewelry Merchandise.  We are excited to offer this to our clients to show appreciation and continue to build trust. You can read more about the NEW JP Client Appreciation Care Policy below. 

This also seems like a great time for a reminder on the basics of JP Jewelry care.  While I am of the mindset of wearing your JP pieces every day and everywhere, I do encourage you to take steps to protect your truly singular JP pieces. We suggest removing jewelry when doing the following:

- working out (especially lifting weights or heavy lifting in general)

- before swimming in heavily chlorinated pools, hot tubs, etc.

- while using chemicals or cleaning agents

It's also a good idea to avoid soaps, hairsprays, and showering in your JP pieces to avoid getting build up on your rings!  We would also like to remind you to clean your jewelry regularly. You can also soak your pieces in lukewarm water and soap, finishing with a gentle cleaning with a soft toothbrush to keep them clean and free of residue buildup. We are partial to the JP jewelry cleaner as the easiest way to keep your pieces sparkling!

Finally, we would also like to take this time to remind you to insure your JP pieces. Losing, misplacing, or having a priceless JP piece go missing can be a heartbreaking experience. Be sure your pieces are insured in the case of any of these things happening.

Celebrating 15 years in business has made me nostalgic about the evolution of JP and the inspirations along the way. My grandmother (my dad's mom) was an absolute beauty and the most perfectly styled woman I have ever known. She was also the kindest and never said an ugly word about anyone, which is the most beautiful quality. My mom is equally stylish, while not even meaning to be.  Having these cool women in my life has shaped my love for personal style. Not only with my own, but in helping clients cultivate their own style to create a collection of JP modern heirloom pieces.

My mom and grandmother often wore gold disc style earrings. My mom had a pair of circle discs with a fold that she wore all of the time. I loved the earrings and looked forward to getting my ears pierced so I could borrow them from her. She purchased them in Buenos Aires which I thought was so cool. She ended up losing the earrings, and I was sad for her... and, selfishly for me. 

So this year I thought I would try to recreate a new disc earring for her inspired by these lost ones. These earrings are not only inspired by a cool, funky design my mom bought in her travels, but they also make me so happy. They remind me of mom's cool style, of my time in Buenos Aires, as a student and nanny, and of my connection with my mom.

Wow Wow Wow!  15 years of JP*.  It feels amazing to have hit this milestone and to also feel like my business is exactly where it should be at this moment. I have been so blessed to get to work with so many inspiring, fun, smart people over the years. While I feel infinitely grateful for everything on this timeline and so many more amazing moments, there have been many bumps in this long road. JP has moved to 5 cities, before returning home to Charleston. I had babies and a brain tumor and surgeries and professional struggles that turned my life inside out and upside down. Through it all, I have found so much light and love and most importantly perspective. Without this perspective, I don’t know that I would be the person I am today, and JP would certainly not be what it is today. As trite as it may sound, adversity forces us to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps on the other side and make the life we want.

I dreamed of growing JP and starting my own full service manufacturing company to bring my own manufacturing in-house and surrounding myself with a smart, hardworking, inspiring JP team. I have done just that. On top of that, and potentially the most important, I have an incredible network of clients who have given me the pleasure of creating truly singular pieces that they can wear and love and continue to build upon and layer over time. I would feel like I was bragging, but I have also worked very hard for the past 15/24 years. I feel a sense of pride in that. I am forever grateful for my team. I am forever grateful for my beautiful sun drenched studio in The Refinery. I am forever grateful for those who have helped me in business over the years, and there have been too many to name. Most importantly, I am forever grateful for the incredible client base that JP continues to nourish and grow in an authentic way. Without you trusting us with your jewelry needs and loving what we do, JP Jewelry would not be what we are today.  

In a very small effort to improve JP customer experience, we have decided to offer free repairs on all JP pieces. Shipping will still be the responsibility of the client, but the work and materials used to repair your JP piece will be on us. Announcement and details on this experience coming very soon!

*I have actually been in business for 24 years, if you include Balboa Jewelry, my costume jewelry line which sold at Barneys and was feature in most fashion magazines (back when we LIVED for print).  How have I been doing anything for this long?!?  It feels very exciting and insane at the same time.

I am so incredibly proud that I have assembled this incredible team at JP. We are women owned & powered. Each JP piece is made in house just for you in our Charleston studio by incredibly talented women. While we celebrate women every single day with our amazing female team doing awesome work, I love the idea that all women around the world celebrate themselves and other women together this week.

I have been having so much fun layering necklaces lately.  While stacking rings, studs, and bracelets has been easy for me, layering JP necklaces haa taken me a little more time to master.  But alas, I think I have done it.  Some necklace stacking hacks I have come across they help my layering look really nice.

JP DIAMOND LINE NECKLACE: the addition of the JP Line Necklace to the collection has been game changing really.  I love how it's the perfect amount of sparkle alone while still allowing for layering of other necklaces.

Differing JP Chains:  layering in different chains not only looks really interesting, the varying chain types can keep the chains from tangling. Currently loving the JP PARTIAL BEZEL DIAMOND Necklaces on the ball chain.

Staple Naked JP Chains:  Adding in a plain chain can help create some interest.  I LOVE the JP BOX CHAIN NECKLACE as a layering piece.

Fine JP Chains:  This is my biggest hurdle, I used to layer too many delicate chains of different lengths and they just became a tangled mess.  I think sticking to one delicate chain when layering is best.  My fave one at the moment is the JP ASSCHER CUT MALAYA GARNET NECKLACE.

I have had virtually no tangles by following the above and using only one delicate chain.

We are always striving to educate our customers on the ins and outs of JP Jewelry.  We strive to inform people, so that they are able to make decisions about JP pieces that they feel good about. I wanted to answer a few questions about some of our most special pieces.

What sets the GILD collection apart from other JP rings?

I am feeling all the feels of LOVE in 2024.  I am grateful for health, for new opportunities at JP Jewelry (with the 2024 Gold Initiative + an incredible trip to Tucson for some seriously gorgeous jewels), for my incredible female team, for my amazing friends.  I am just feeling all the feels.

I also received a great email from R. Runberg Curiosities, encouraging me to "forget saccharine gestures and outdated conventions" and "LOVE YOUR FRIENDS. LOVE YOUR SWEETHEART.  LOVE YOURSELF."  This resonated with me extra this year. 

I created a very special collection of JP SELF LOVE Rings that are made up of some simple reminders to to brighten your day. The New JP METEORITE HEART Necklaces are near and dear to my heart as well.  After making one for my daughter years ago, I found a few more in Tucson that we have added to the collection.  They are each singular and out of this world cool. 

I also had the honor of helping my daughter with some very special necklaces for her besties that she designed to give them for Love Day.  I have been giving extra big hugs to my family.  And I have been thinking about how I want to give back to my community this year. 

I used to hate Valentine's Day and the idea of it, but this year and in years to come it has new meaning for me.  It's a time to celebrate LOVE in all of it's forms.  Who doesn't need a reminder of that?
