This is 39 – If I Could Turn Back Time

I know it’s cliche to be turning 40 and looking for the fountain of youth, but it’s difficult not to think about how to grow older gracefully.   I mean, who doesn’t wish they could turn back time to when they were younger and didn’t appreciate how flawless they were?  Because I prefer to do things as toxin free and healthfully as possible, I am always looking for little skincare miracles.

I had an event last year at POUT with a skincare professional from Tata Harper.  While I was loving meeting fun customers, I was insanely jealous of the ladies getting mini Tata Harper facials with their incredible rep Dana.  When she came up for 5 minutes of air between making these ladies glow, I asked her what product she felt was the “must have” product for an almost 39 year old.  Without hesitation, she said the Elixir Vitae.  She explained to me how it was basically botox in a bottle without any of the bad stuff.  SOLD!  I got both that and the eye serum and have never looked back.  They are both on the pricier side… and by that, I mean they are the two most expensive products I have ever used.  I truly feel like they work, and I use them sparingly to get the most life out of them as possible.  Since I didn’t wanted to be sure I had the lingo to explain how they work, I touched base with McKenzie at Tata Harper to be sure I had it all straight:

The Elixir Vitae is Tata’s favorite product! It is our most concentrated youth giving formula with a total of 38 High Performing Ingredients to provide deep wrinkle prevention and correction while enhancing the skin’s volume and density. It is a wonderful transformation! This complex formula has three anti aging peptides that help to relax muscle contractions that cause wrinkles and expression lines. Basically they work to re-educate the muscle memory so that when you make the contraction your skin relaxes and fills back up instead of staying in an expressive state. This works wonderfully for clients who get a cosmetic procedure – consider it your insurance policy! Or for people who want to avoid Botox and fillers, this is a great answer. Any one can use this, it is great for all skin types and it is targeted clients who are experiencing loss of volume and deep wrinkles, but of course you can use it as a perfect prevention.

The peptides are from Spanish Lavender, Snowflake Bulb and Acmella Extract.

Need I say more??  Yes!  I do have more.

I also heard about an amazing supplement through this San Francisco based store, Ayla Beauty, which Jessica Morse introduced me to.  It is the most precious little spot and I hope to visit in person some time soon.  I started taking Biocyte Hyaluronic Forte almost two years ago and I almost immediately felt my skin tighten and fine lines reduce.  More recently, Ayla, released another product called Activ Pulp which helps with redness.  I have quite a bit of redness in my skin (unofficially rosacea prone), and this supplement has helped with the redness and hydration immensely.

Dara Kennedy, founder and CEO of Ayla (who recently turned 40 as well) had this to say:

Hyaluronic Forte, my personal favorite, is great for stimulating the synthesis of collagen and elastin from the inside out; it plays an important role in skin’s structure as it’s naturally found in the second layer of the skin. And Activ Inpulp is perfect if your skin is very dry or prone to redness, since its key features are phytoceramides, glycolipids, and phospholipids. Many of our clients take both, similar to the way in which we often suggest layering hyaluronic acid serums underneath oils for skin that’s very dry or dehydrated.

If you are looking to turn back the hands of time 100% naturally or at least grow old as gracefully as possible, these guys are for you.  Take my word for it*.
